Travel to Agincourt (modern Azincourt), the scene of Henry V’s great triumph at the Battle of Agincourt and part of the Hundred Years' War, for a Medieval History Lesson including armour, weaponry and armies of the period.
The might of the English Longbow has never been more effectively demonstrated than on the legendary fields of Agincourt. On St Crispin's Day 1415, Henry V's two small outnumbered English armies were able to decisively defeat their French opponents due to the English archers and their longbows. The new Medieval History Centre in Azincourt village not only tells the story of the battle, but sets the whole bloody conflict in context. There is a life size model of a knight on horse back in armour, full size talking figures as well as interactive exhibits (weapons and armour). It is a good starting point and preparation for walking round the battle site. You could combine Agincourt with one or more days in the Boulogne-sur-Mer area as an introduction to both the French way of life and using the language. Visit Nausicaä, Centre National de la Mer, which is dedicated to introducing young people to the diversity of sea life and its conservation.
