Auschwitz
A visit to the Auschwitz and Birkenau Concentration Camps will leave a lasting impression. If your school group have already visited the House of the Wannsee Conference in Berlin, it will bring home the enormity of the decisions made in that beautiful setting. English-speaking guides will escort your group.

During your visit, it is possible to stay in the Polish town of Oswiecim at the International Youth Hostel, about one mile from the Auschwitz Camp. The hostel is run as a joint German-Polish venture and needs booking well in advance, as it is very popular with European school groups. |

Krakow
The city is about half an hour drive from Auschwitz. Krakow has a delightful Old Town and after the bleakness of Auschwitz a visit here is highly recommended. The Jewish Quarter still survives and it is possible to visit a synagogue and Jewish Cemetery. One synagogue has been converted into a Jewish Museum, giving insight into the Jewish religion and then the story of the holocaust in both Krakow and other parts of Poland.
Krakow is the old capital of Poland and managed to escape destruction during WW2. At one end is the Wawel, a castle built on a hill, and in the centre of the Main Square is the imposing Cloth Hall. At the North end of the town is the Barbikan and the remains of the medieval city walls with four towers. An optional trip to the Salt Mines outside Krakow can be included. Warsaw A tour can be arranged flying return to Warsaw and spending a day in this beautifully rebuilt city, and taking in an English speaking guided tour telling the story of the Warsaw Ghetto. Warsaw has been reconstructed and is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Monument. From Warsaw's central Market Square, narrow streets lead to medieval walls, the Barbican, St John’s Cathedral and the Royal Castle. After a night in Warsaw, transfer to the rail station and take a direct intercity express to Krakow, where you will be met by coach and stay in Krakow for three nights before returning by train to Warsaw for the flight home.
