London is a vibrant capital city steeped in history, tradition and culture from the West End with its theatres to the City of London, dating from pre-Roman times, to the arts and culture of the South Bank. There are many interesting and famous places for a school visit such as the Tower of London, the London Dungeon, the London Aquarium, Hampton Court Palace, the Cabinet War Rooms, Kew Gardens, the London Transport Museum, London Zoo and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

The Imperial War Museum was founded in 1917 to record the story of the Great War and the contributions made by the peoples of the Empire, this was extended to the Second World War and then to all military operations in which British or Commonwealth forces have been involved since August 1914. The IWM seeks to encourage the study and understanding of modern war and its effects on our lives. The Imperial War Museum is thus the national museum of twentieth century conflict. It illustrates and records all aspects of modern war, and of the individual's experience of war. |
