Passports
A standard ten-year adult or five year child passport is required for all tours in this brochure.
Passports must be valid for at least six months beyond the planned date of return travel. If your passport expires earlier than this, it may still be acceptable but you should contact your local passport office or the consulate or embassy of the country to be visited for detailed advice.
If a new passport is required or you need to renew an expired one, please allow eight weeks for the application to be processed and up to three months if applying between February and August. Lost, stolen and new passports will take one-week minimum to replace. It is essential that you check whether you are in possession of a valid passport at the earliest opportunity.
If any passport is endorsed in any way, you should check immigration requirements with the relevant embassy or consulate of the country to be visited.
Holders of British Subject Passports and Non-British Citizens: we can only advise on immigration requirements if your passport was issued in the UK and endorsed ‘British Citizen’. Holders of a British Subject passport and non- British citizens should check immigration requirements with the relevant embassy or consulate of the country to be visited. |
Collective Passports for EU
Approved parties of students and members of the Scout and Guide movements, and other recognised youth organisations under 18 years of age, who are British Nationals and are travelling abroad in the charge of a responsible leader are entitled to Collective Passports.
In most cases a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 50 children can be entered on a Collective Passport. The leader and deputy leader, if applicable, must be over 21 years old and hold a valid standard United Kingdom passport, and not a British Visitor’s passport.
For more information, contact the Passport Office either in Belfast, Liverpool, Newport, Glasgow or Peterborough (not available through the London Office). |
EU Visas
British Citizens do not require visas for tours in the EU. When holders of British Subject Passports and non-British Citizens are travelling as part of a group, it is recommended that the Tour Leader confirms the regulations covering such persons’ relevant with the embassy or consulate of the country to be visited. Holts Tours regrets that it cannot accept responsibility for any passenger who has not obtained the correct documentation prior to travel.

Visas Exemption for non-EU Passport Holders
| This scheme is arranged through the British Council for non-EU nationals travelling to EU countries on an organised educational tour. The school Tour Leader needs to phone 0161 957 7755 and ask for the appropriate form. This can only be requested and filled out by the school. It will be necessary for the Tour Leader to see the student’s passport and confirm that there is a Home Office stamp giving them either indefinite leave to remain in the UK or leave to stay in the UK until a fixed date. This date must be later than the date of travel. |
