Dublin
Dublin lies on the east coast of Ireland and is divided by the River Liffey - to the north is O’Connell Street, the major shopping thoroughfare and to the south, Temple Bar - the hub of the city with shops, restaurants and art galleries. The birthplace of Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and George Bernard Shaw, Dublin is famous worldwide for its literary tradition and a visit to the James Joyce Centre and Writers Museum is highly recommended. Learn about Dublin’s history on a walking tour around the the old part of the city or maybe visit one of the many art galleries and museums such as the National Gallery or National Museum of Natural History. Whatever the choice, your group will love the vibrancy and excitement this fascinating city has to offer!
Cork
Set in the South West of Ireland with its landscape dominated by the Atlantic Ocean, Cork is an excellent base to explore this scenic region. Cork is the third largest city in Ireland and won the title of European Capital of Culture 2005. The town centre is uniquely situated on an island between two channels of the Lee River. Shandon area, to the north is an interesting historic part of the city dating back to 1183. Sights to the south include the Protestant St Finbarr’s Cathedral, Cork Museum and Cork Jail.
Blarney Castle
Blarney Castle is situated approximately 5 miles to the south of Cork and was originally a fortress of the MacCarthys built around 1446 and is situated in over 1000 acres of magnificent woodland. The famous Blarney Stone (Stone of Eloquence) is set in a wall just below the battlements and is said to bestow the gift of eloquence to those who kiss it!
Waterford
Waterford, the oldest city in Ireland, with its city walls and narrow alleyways was established in Viking times but has a decidedly medieval feel. A legacy of Georgian times is also evident in the fine buildings, particularly those on the Mall, however, primarily, it is a busy commercial port city and the closest major Irish port to mainland Europe. Waterford is home to the famous crystal glass and a visit to the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre allows you to take a tour of the factory and watch the craftsmen and designers at work. Other attractions include pre-historic and historic sites and the Waterford Treasures at the Granary which uses exciting audio-visual techniques to bring the history of Waterford to life!
A Typical Tour
Day 1 Flights to Dublin. At Dublin airport board your coach and transfer to Waterford travelling through the “Garden of Ireland” and seeing the majestic Wicklow Mountains en route. Check into your accommodation.
Day 2 Check out of your accommodation . Visit Waterford Crystal Glass factory before boarding your coach and transferring to Cork. Check into your accommodation. Afternoon excursion to Blarney Castle.
Day 3 Check out of your accommodation. Transfer to Galway experiencing a tour of the Ring of Kerry en-route. Check into your accommodation.
Day 4 Check out of your accommodation. Morning is at leisure in Galway. Afternoon transfer to Dublin. Check into your accommodation.
Day 5 Full day sightseeing Dublin.
Day 6 Check out of your accommodation. Morning is at leisure before transferring to Dublin airport for your scheduled flight home.
