Geographical Fieldwork
There are three new Geographical Fieldwork Modules based around our already successful WW1 Battlefield Tours in Ypres and the Somme.
The Geography Fieldwork Modules have been developed according to National Curriculum KS3 guidelines, however the modules can equally be developed as part of a student's GCSE fieldwork investigation in Year 10/11.

The Modules available at present are:
What is the Pattern of Environmental Quality of Ypres?
In this module students walk two transects through the city, collecting data at a variety of given points. As they do so, they record the changes that they identify and complete the exercises and graphs in the workbook supplied. Finally the students are asked to analyse, evaluate and present their results.
What is the Sphere of Influence of Ypres?
In this module, students collect data in the form of a questionnaire, which is compiled in both English and Flemish. Having collected information in the city centre somewhere near to the Menin Gate, students or their teachers choose one of the more residential areas in which to complete their data collection. Again the students are asked to complete the workbook supplied, analyse, evaluate and present their results.
Visitor Pressure and Visitor Impact - a Geographical Study of Tourism in Peronne.
Students investigate the impact of tourism on a small town. They use recording sheets to carry out a secondary data collection exercise at the "Historial de la Grande Guerre" Museum followed by an 'occupancy rate study' in the Museum and car parks in the vicinity. Students consider the concept of a tourist honey pot and determine whether Peronne has reached or exceeded its carrying capacity.
The group move out into the Somme Battlefield sites in the afternoon to carry out geographical data collection exercises at one or more of the Memorials or Cemeteries.
