Coach Tour Departures
Unless other wise stated, all coach tours start from London Victoria Coach Station and pick up at the Eastern Docks Ferry Terminal, Dover. Relyon Car Parking Service at Dover ( 01304 201227) offers a 24 hour parking service that includes collection and delivery from the pick up point at Dover Eastern Docks. Please ensure that you specify your required departure point on the booking form. UK tours tend to meet at the hotel. Please check the fact file.
Air Tour Departures
Our air tours now have the unique benefit of Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service™.
Times of Departure
Please note that although times given are correct at the time this page was first published they are subject to change. Correct times will be on your Joining Instructions.
Joining Instructions
Holts joining instructions will be sent out 2-4 weeks prior to departure and will include details of coach/air departures and hotels (names and contact numbers) Where there is any change to information given in the brochure, the details in the Joining Instructions are those in operation for your tour.
Baggage
Please note that if your holiday includes our VIP Home Departure Service™ only one suitcase and one standard piece of hand luggage per person will be allowed. Your suitcase should conform to the following approximate maximum dimensions: Height 58cm (23”) Length 73cm (29”) width 25cm (10”). Health and Safety requirements dictate that suitcases may only be stored in the luggage compartment of our vehicles. We are therefore unable to accommodate any more than one suitcase per person, or any oversized pieces of luggage. Titan Travel Ltd reserves the right to decline carriage and must advise clients travelling with excess baggage, that should separate or additional transport arrangements be necessary, then these will be at the client's own expense. To avoid any problems with our transport arrangements, possible delay to your journey and inconvenience to your fellow travellers, please ensure that these baggage allowance conditions are adhered to. If your holiday does not entail using our VIP Home Departure Service™ then the applicable airline baggage allowances apply as stated on your Joining Instructions. Please refer to your Joining Instructions as certain tours may have luggage restrictions.
Passports
A standard ten year British passport is required for all holidays in this brochure which must be valid for at least six months beyond your planned date of return travel, however, please see any exceptions to this below. If your passport expires earlier than this, it may still be acceptable but you should contact your local passport office or the consulate or embassy of the country to be visited for detailed advice. Clients applying for a new passport, or renewing an expired one, should allow eight weeks for the application to be processed and up to three months if applying between February and August. Lost, stolen and new passports will take one week minimum to replace. It is essential that you check whether you are in possession of a valid passport before you make your holiday booking. If your passport is endorsed in any way, you should check immigration requirements with the relevant embassy or consulate of the country to be visited.

Exceptions USA - Machine-readable passports. All passengers entering the USA on the visa waiver programme will be required to hold a machine-readable passport (MRP). An MRP includes the holder's personal details e.g. name, date of birth, nationality and their passport number contained in two lines of text as letters, numbers and chevrons (>>>>) at the base of the photo page. If you are NOT in possession of a MRP you will need to contact the US Embassy to obtain a visa for entry or apply for a new passport. Travellers without a MRP who do not have a visa will be denied entry into the USA and possibly fined. The vast majority of non-machine readable British passports that are in circulation were issued outside of the UK.

Digital photographs The US announced a requirement that all new passports issued on or after the 26 October 2005 must contain a digital photo image to enable the holder to travel to the USA without the need of a visa. A digital photograph is printed on the page, not glued or laminated. The UK passport office has confirmed that all passports issued since 2003 in the UK should include digital photographs. If your passport was issued before 2003 or does not contain a digital photograph, you may still enter the US as along as your passport is machine readable (see above).

Biometric Passports From the 26th October 2006 all new passports issued on or after this date will be required to include biometric data. Biometric passports contain the holder's facial data stored in an integrated circuit chip and may also contain other unique personal information such as fingerprints and iris details. The UK Passport office is currently developing this capability and anticipates being able to meet this deadline. If your passport was issued prior to 26 October 2006 you will still be able to enter the US on the visa waiver system as long as it is machine readable (see above) and if necessary it contains a digital photograph (see above). For further information on the visa waiver system, please refer to our USA visa section. This information has been issued for general guidance only, if you have any doubt about travel to the US or require any further information we strongly recommend that you contact the US Embassy's Live Operator Information Service on 090555 444546 (calls costs £1.30 per minute at the time of going to print) or visit the US Embassy website on www.usembassy.org.uk for further information.

South Africa All visitors are required to have one blank page in their passport to enable an entry visa to be issued upon arrival in the country. Two blank pages will be required if travel is extended to other African countries.

Holders of British Subject Passports and Non-British Citizens. We can only advise on immigration requirements if your passport was issued in the UK and endorsed 'British Citizen'. Holders of a British Subject passport and non-British citizens should check immigration requirements with the relevant embassy or consulate of the country to be visited.

Visas
The following visa information is for British citizens only. All consular fees are correct at the time of going to print and are subject to change. Visa forms and guidelines for the relevant country will be sent with confirmation invoices.

NOTE : Some Travellers including those with certain serious communicable illnesses, criminal records, previous deportations, overstays on the visa waiver programme (US) and other problems may not be eligible by law to enter certain countries. Such travellers must check with the embassy or consulate of the country to be visited in order to ascertain if they are eligible to apply for a special restricted visa. In the case of the USA, they will be refused entry if they attempt to use the no Visa plan. Titan Travel regrets that it cannot accept responsibility for any passenger who has not obtained the correct documentation prior to travel.

India - All visitors require a visa for entry to India. Tourist visas cost £30 and are valid from the date of issue. Visa applications can be made via the Indian Embassy. Alternatively, we can arrange this for you for an additional charge of £15 per person.

Russia - Visas can be obtained through Holts Tours and visa application forms together with further details on how to obtain the visas will be sent to you with your confirmation invoice. The visa cost is currently £30 per person for Russia. The visa service charge is £45 per person. It should be noted that once your passport has been lodged with the embassies eight weeks prior to departure, we will be unable to retrieve it until the visa has been issued. It is therefore important that you do not require your passport during this period. Holts Tours will not be liable if any delay occurs within the embassy and cannot guarantee any specific date for passports to be returned. If you have already made other travel arrangements, please contact us prior to making your reservation.

USA - Most visitors to the U.S. are required to have a U.S. visa in their passport. However since the introduction of the waiver scheme, full British Citizen passport holders with the right of abode in the U.K. will be able to travel on this scheme by completing a visa waiver form which is handed to the U.S immigration authorities on arrival. This does not include Irish citizens who carry a British subject passport. It is the responsibility of each passenger to ensure they are able to comply with all U.S. government requirements contained in the visa waiver form. US - Visit is a simple procedure where all passengers will have a digital photograph taken and have their index fingerprint scanned by an inkless device at the immigration desk upon arrival into the USA. In addition this procedure is gradually being introduced at all airports upon your departure from the USA. Please ensure you adhere to these new procedures, as it is your responsibility to enter and exit in the correct format.

Passport Stamps - You should be aware that if your passport contains previous entry or visa stamps of certain countries you may encounter problems when visiting other countries. e.g. a passport indicating you have previously travelled to Israel may not be accepted by a number of Arabic countries.

Dual Nationality/Renounced Citizenship - Clients should check with the embassy of the country/countries to be visited what the entry requirements are.

Flights
Although every effort is made to secure seating on the aircraft to satisfy your particular request, we cannot guarantee that your choice of seats will be available or that seats together can always be obtained.

In accordance with EU Directive - (EC) No.2111/2005, Article 9, we are required to bring to your attention the existence of a 'Community list', which contains details of air carriers that are subject to an operating ban within the EU Community. The Community list is available for inspection at http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air-ban/list_en.htm
Direct Flights
When the term Direct Flight is applied, this refers to a flight involving no change of aircraft. However, the aircraft may make stops en-route. Where a flight is indirect this will be advised to you, although airlines do change their schedule from time to time.
Special Requests
These should be advised at the time of booking. Although we shall endeavour to meet special requests, this is dependent on our suppliers and we cannot guarantee that your requirements will be met. We cannot accept any booking that is conditional upon a special request being met. Requests for extra leg-room on aircraft are so frequently requested that it is unlikely to be available in most circumstances.
Walking
We often visit places on the battlefields where it is necessary to walk across rough ground to get a good view of the area being studied. Due to the historic nature and layout of some towns together with current transport regulations access to places visited and hotels by coach may be limited. Clients are therefore advised that a significant amount of walking may be involved. Many of the places visited are old and there are often uneven steps, terraces or paths. It is important that you take extra care when walking and wear appropriate footwear. You are urged to contact our sales staff for further information if you have any difficulty in walking or mobility problems and they will be pleased to advise you on the suitability of any particular holiday.
Coaches
Although we do try to provide coaches with toilets on board wherever possible, we regret that this facility cannot be guranteed. It is also possible that in certain parts of the world the toilet may have to remain locked at the discretion of the driver. Regular stops are made for the comfort of all on board. Please note, single travellers may be seated alongside another single traveller.
Hotel Accommodation
The price of your tour is based on shared twin or double accommodation, with private facilities. The hotel rating is shown in the fact file. These are local ratings. Further details about the hotel will be sent with your joining instructions.
Single Rooms
A limited number of single places is available, so early booking is recommended if you do not wish to share. The single supplement is shown in the Fact File. These are the supplements charged by the hotel. Single accommodation has full facilities but the single supplement does not necessarily mean a twin/double room will be provided for single occupancy.
Single Travellers
To avoid the additional cost of single accommodation please let us know that you would like to share a room if there is another similar request from a suitable traveller. If we can arrange shared accommodation in this way, the single supplement will be refunded.
Meals
When requesting vegetarian meals or special diets, it should be appreciated that in some countries the standard and choice is likely to be limited.
Health
Regulations are subject to change and it is your responsibility to comply with entry and health requirements for the country you intend to visit. You should consult your doctor in good time or obtain further information from the Department of Health ‘Traveller Guide to Health’, obtainable from Post Offices or phone 0800 555 777. Reciprocal arrangements with EEC countries are set out in form EHIC. This form is available from Post Offices and you should take it with you if travelling in the EEC.
Disabilities and Medical Conditions
Regrettably many of our tours are not suitable for the disabled traveller. Please let us know if you or anyone in your party suffers from a serious medical condition or physical disability before a booking is made, as Holts Tours cannot provide individual assistance with boarding coaches or other forms of transport, baggage handling, walking or other personal requirements, etc. and clients should be confident that they can do these tasks unaided. We are happy to give advice and assistance with the choice of your holiday, which will be dependent upon the nature of the disability and whether the person with the disability is accompanied by an able bodied companion. In order to ensure your enjoyment of the holiday, we ask all clients to provide full details of any disability or special requirements at the time of booking. Some suppliers such as airlines and cruise lines may request certification from your GP to confirm that you are fit to travel.
Noise and Development
There may be redevelopment, expansion, building or roadworks taking place in the vicinity of your hotel during your holiday and associated noise can be unavoidable. This may occur without warning to us. If we know in advance of any impending work which could cause you disturbance, we will make every effort to inform you as soon as possible. Hotels rely on several forms of revenue to remain in business and naturally weddings, dinners and other functions may take place during your stay. If you do have a complaint at your hotel or indeed for any other service, you must tell your Tour Manager or the hotelier who will try and solve the problem on the spot.
Safety
Your safety and security is our first consideration. In the event of the Foreign Office advising against travel to a certain country, we would act on this advice. However, we do recommend that you check Foreign Office Travel Advice before you make a booking and this can be found on the internet at http://www.fco.gov.uk/travel. Although we take every precaution in looking after you on tour, the responsibility for your personal safety and welfare and the care of your possessions is obviously the same as that which you exercise whilst at home. Extra care should be taken when walking around cities, especially at night and we recommend you stay in well lit, populated areas. It is also wise to avoid carrying valuables or wearing expensive jewellery.
Overseas Standards
It is important to remember that, in certain countries, standards are often quite different to those we are accustomed in Europe. Restaurant and hotel services are often quite different, roads are often little more than bumpy tracks and poverty is ever present. Energy conservation may mean that hotels are obliged to limit services such as water and electricity and the legal and safety requirements may be of a lower standard than the UK. These facts are readily recognised by seasoned travelers and are often well explained in good travel guides.
Privacy and Data
We want all our clients to enjoy completely successful holidays. However, any client with a medical condition or disability or a dietary/religious requirement must be aware that information supplied to us will be passed to other companies and persons who supply the various parts of our travel arrangements. The suppliers may, depending upon your choice of holiday, be based outside the European Economic Area where controls on data protection may not be as stringent as in this country. We will not, however, pass this information to any party that is not responsible for your travel arrangements.
